What is Folk Music
Folk music goes back to the days when recording audio was not possible. Music made by the common man in the course of day-to-day activity is known as folk music. It is a music that comes naturally. A worker humming a song as he worked, a mother singing to her baby, a lover wooing his love, someone praying to God.
The music so made was passed on from mouth to mouth, from instrument to instrument – from one generation to the other. Folk music encapsulate the essence of life in different periods of time. They provide us a glimpse of bygone days that go back to our ROOTS.
